About MES Kerala

A legacy of excellence

Founded in 1964 by Dr. P. K. Abdul Gafoor, the Muslim Educational Society has grown into one of the largest educational agencies in Kerala. For over six decades, we have been dedicated to uplifting the socially and educationally backward classes by providing world-class education.

Today, our network spans 150+ institutions, from premier medical and engineering colleges to vibrant arts & science campuses, directly shaping the future of over 85,000 students annually.

Founder & Architect

Dr. P.K. Abdul Gafoor

Founder, Muslim Educational Society (1964)

In 1964, Dr. P.K. Abdul Gafoor founded the Muslim Educational Society in Calicut with a singular mission: to democratise access to quality education for communities across Kerala. Starting with a single vision, he built what would become one of India's largest educational networks — spanning medical colleges, engineering institutions, arts & science colleges, schools, and hospitals.

His belief that education is the most powerful instrument of social change continues to guide MES Kerala across six decades and 150+ institutions.
